Hot Sandwiches at DAYSMART in Mito

We got a recommendation for hot sandwiches at DAYSMART in Mito from one of our friends music teachers. They had mentioned that it was their favorite sandwich shop in all of Mito. We were checking out the Mito Citizens Center across the street and decided to give it a try. The shop was also located across the street from Mito Keisei Mall.

The outside featured a trendy and modern looking awning with a small amount of outdoor seating. This had this nice sign on the sidewalk to help advertise to passing foot traffic. We were surprised with how much English they used, but we figured it was part of their style.

We came by foot, so it wasn’t a problem, but there appears to be no parking available. If you come by car, there are several paid parking lots in the area that you can use. There is a Times Parking Lot next door with a rate of ¥200/40 minutes.

The inside of the shop was pretty small with about half a dozen or so tables and chairs. The sandwiches were pre made and displayed in a glass case. We really liked all the white writing on the display boards and walls. The white writing on the dark colored walls contrasted nicely and it really made the words pop.

DAYSMART Menu

The menu consists primarily of sandwiches with a wide variety to choose from. There are set sandwiches that are available all the time and seasonal sandwiches that change based on what ingredients are available. There is also a lunch set option that can be added to any of the sandwiches.

We inquired about the salad and learned that it was their homemade coleslaw. We aren’t particularly big fans of coleslaw so we decided to pass on getting a set. After figuring out what we wanted, we ordered both a salmon sandwich and their seasonal roast beef sandwich as well as a side of French Fries.

DAYSMART Food Review

One nice thing about this shop is that they toast the bread for you after you order. The sandwiches were really good. The bread was warm and fluffy. The roast beef had good seasoning and a savory brown sauce made it delicious. The smoked salmon was good as well. The cream cheese spread gave it a ricer taste and complimented the salmon nicely. The French Fries were shoestring cut and had a nice crisp.

Final Thoughts

Great sandwiches at affordable prices. Next time, we’d like to try some of their cookies and pies that we didn’t notice until after the fact. They say they do to go, but we’re not sure if the sandwiches would still be warm by the time we ate them. In our opinion the sandwiches are best warm and should be eaten immediately. The price point was great and the food was tasty. If your looking for hot sandwiches in Mito, then we highly recommend DAYSMART.
