Pakuchi Thai in Mito

We’ve been to Pakuchi Thai in Mito twice now. Once with a friend and another time for a birthday party. Both times, the food was delicious, but our wait times could not have been more different. The first time we went with our friend for dinner was on a weekday after work. There were only a few other guests. We were able to order immediately and our food came out a short time later.

The second time we went was for another friends birthday. It was on a Saturday at 13:00. Thankfully, we had a reservation otherwise, I’m not sure we would have gotten a table to fit the 8+ people in our group. After being seated, we mulled over the menu for a bit before ordering. The restaurant was completely full with another larger group just finishing up and many other small groups. From the time we ordered, to the time when we received our last dish, over an hour and a half had elapsed. Under no circumstances is this a reflection on the quality of the food.

The shop is run by a single couple, who can get overwhelmed quite quickly. Most people who go to the restaurant are aware of this and give them an extreme amount of lenience and patience. We even witnessed instances of “regulars” bussing the tables of previous guests to get a seat during the lunch rush.

Pakuchi Thai in Mito is located off of National Route 50 in a small strip plaza with plenty of parking. It is just down the street from the Ibaraki Prefectural Offices. The inside of the restaurant is pretty big with two rows of tables that can accommodate groups of varying sizes. The interior has a welcoming vibe with its tan walls and warm lighting.

Pakuchi Thai Menu

The menu had an extensive variety of Thai dishes to choose from. We appreciated how the menu had full colored pictures of all the different dishes. After going over the menu we decided to go with the pad thai, pad see ew, fried rice, and grilled chicken.

Pakuchi Thai Food Review

The first time we went, our food came out in a timely manner. Everything looked and smelled great. The pad thai had good flavor and was a little bit spicy. The pad see ew was our favorite with its tender meat, tasty sauce, and long flat noodles. The grilled chicken was nicely marinated and moist on the inside. The fried rice was well seasoned and filling.

Final Thoughts

The food here is wonderful. Everything we tried was delcious and affordable. We can’t wait to go back again. We highly recommend going on a weekday for dinner to beat the crowds and potentially long wait times on weekends.
