Uotsune Seafood was located within the Wakkanai Fukuko Market which had a large selection of fresh seafood. The market specialized in and was known for their crab. We had stopped by Uotsune Seafood in Wakkanai the day before, but it closed at 15:00. We were interested in trying some of Hokkaido’s fresh seafood, so we decided to come back the next day.

The area for the restaurant was pretty small with about half a dozen bar seats and two small tables. It was more like a stall than a restaurant as it opened up directly into the market.
Uotsune Seafood Menu

The menu was exclusively sashimi seafood bowls with various combinations of seafood. The restaurant really focused on the delicacies which included uni (sea urchin), crab, and ikura (salmon eggs). We also read on the sign that some of the menu items were seasonal and would not be available year round. Since Wakkanai is known for their crab, we ended up going with a crab bowl and a mixed sashimi bowl.

Our bowls came out shortly after. The presentation was beautiful. There were five types of fish in mine. There were two pieces of tuna, salmon, sweet shrimp, octopus, and scallops. The freshness and taste were impressive. Usually, in bowls like this, one or two types of the seafood are amazing and the others are just so so. That was not the case with this bowl. All of the seafood was amazing. The biggest surprise for us was the octopus. Typically, the octopus is quite chewy and rubbery. This octopus was soft and fairly easy to chew. Probably the best octopus we’ve ever had. The crab was wonderful as well. It was plentiful and had good flavor.
Final Thoughts
The sashimi seafood bowls at Uotsune were amazing. The fish was super fresh and tasty. This is a must go spot in Wakkanai.
