Pacific Resort Camping Ground in Ibaraki

With a three day weekend fast approaching, we were interested in doing some camping. We were looking to stay local, so our goal was to find a campground that wasn’t too far from our home in Mito. The Hitachiomiya area along the Naka River has a good number of campgrounds. We looked through the list and decided to go with Pacific Resort Camping Ground in Ibaraki. They had an informative website and a navigable reservation system. We booked one of their Free Site A sites.

The camping ground was located just off of National Route 123 in the rural southwestern corner of Hitachiomiya City. The camping ground is on the northern bank of the Naka River that is accessible via a two minute trail. Nearby amenities include Seicomart & Family Mart convenience stores located across and down the street as well as Roadside Station Katsura which is a five minute drive away.

Pacific Resort Camping Ground Sites

Free Site A

Free Site A is a large open grassy area in the western portion of the camping ground. There is room for up to 12 groups of 6 people. Free Site A does not have any set boundaries for sites. Groups can choose freely where to set up their camp and gear. The area is very large and open, so there was no sense of crowding. Guests in Free Site A have to park their cars in a designated parking lot. Free Site A is the closest area to the restrooms and shower room.

Note: Wifi Available, No Electricity, No Cars

Auto Site

The Auto Site area is in the eastern portion of the camping ground. There are six large grassy sites, where you can park your car next to your tent. Each of the sites is approximately 110 square meters. The capacity for each site is six people and the distribution of the reserved sites is on a first come first serve basis. Each of the sites can accommodate up to one tent and one tarp.

Note: Additional tents and tarps cannot be added to this site. Another site would need to be reserved. Wifi Available, No Electricity.

Solo Site

The Solo Site area is a large grassy area that sits on the easternmost part of the camping ground. There are ten sites available to individuals. Like Free Site A, there are no defined boundaries. Guests can freely choose where to set up their tents on a first come first serve basis. Each of the sites can accommodate up to one tent and one tarp.

Note: Additional tents and tarps cannot be added to this site. Another site would need to be reserved. Wifi Available, No Electricity.

Pacific Resort Camping Ground Amenities

The camping ground has many convenient amenities and services that they include within the base cost of the sites. There is free garbage disposal onsite just behind the reception area. There are separate bins for each of major trash types.

Another nice perk is the free hot showers. At other campgrounds we’ve been to, we’ve had to pay a separate fee to use the shower facilities. At Pacific Resort Camping Ground, there is no additional fee to use the hot showers. There are three shower stalls in both the men’s and women’s bathrooms. There are small baskets inside to hold your clothes and several curtains to separate the stalls.

To the left of the bathrooms, there is a free dish washing station with hot water. There were a half dozen large sinks with hot water to wash dishes. When we checked in at the reception desk, we were given a new sponge to use at the washing stations.

The camping ground also has eight wagons that guests can borrow. We used them to transport our gear from our cars to our tent site. The wagons saved us multiple trips. They were large enough that we were able to move all of our gear and supplies in two trips. The wagons were pretty heavy duty and were able to go over some rough terrain with ease.

There is access to the Naka River via a walking path near the southern part of the camping ground. The concrete path is initially a little steep. Afterwards, it’s a short two minute walk to the water. Along the way there were these pretty flowers.

Note: Campfires directly on the ground are prohibited. The camping ground requires the use of a fire stand.

Note: Rental equipment is available. You can make reservations online.
