Murakami Fisheries in Tottori

We had just finished up at the Tottori Sand Museum and were heading back to our car at the Tottori Sand Dunes Visitor Center parking lot. We were getting a little hungry, so we decided to stop for lunch at Murakami Fisheries in Tottori. It was located along the main road leading to the sand dunes.

The interior of the building contained two separate sides. One side had traditional tables and chairs and a counter with great views of the sand dunes. The other side featured a raised platform with sitting tables and cushions.

Murakami Fisheries Menu

The menu featured a wide range of seafood related bowls and plates. Each of the tables had a tablet that we used to order our food. We ended up going with the maguro zuke don and the Tottori salmon don.

The Tottori salmon don was good. It featured raw sashimi salmon, baked salmon, and salmon roe. The fish was fresh. The maguro zuke don was good as well. The soy based marinade had good flavor and the excess sauce flavored the rice as well. Each of the bowls also had these slightly crunchy rainbow yam noodles that added some texture to the bowls.

This restaurant did have a moderate amount of tourism surge pricing. This was to be expected as the restaurant was right across the street from the Sand Dunes and amongst a number of other restaurants and omiyage shops.

Final Thoughts

We enjoyed our meal at Murakami Fisheries in Tottori. The restaurants prime location and close proximity to the Tottori Sand Dunes was very convenient. The food was good, the fish was fresh, but it was a little pricey and wasn’t particularly memorable.
