Our friend told us about a special Mister Donut & Pokémon Collaboration in 2021. Since we are pretty big Pokémon and Mister Donut fans, we knew that we wanted to participate. The special campaign started on November 12th and will go until the end of December or until supplies run out. The collaboration is to hype there new games Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, Pokémon Shining Pearl & Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

At the front of the store there was a promotional poster announcing the event. All of the promotional goods were displayed in the front glass container for everyone to see. There was also an explanation of how the promotion worked.

The main promotion was a set that included one Pokémon face donut, one Pokémon tail donut, and two of there Christmas donuts. In addition you would receive one of three promotional items. There was a small blanket, a plate, and a coffee mug to choose from. All the sets would come in there own originally designed bag. The set was priced at a reasonable ¥1,365 including tax. There was also a drink set option for ¥1,465 including tax, but we decided to stick with the donuts. Seeing as we liked all of them, we decided to go for it.

Mister Donut & Pokémon Donuts Review

Now for the donuts. Pikachu was a nice cream filled donut with chocolate dipped ears, chocolate candy eyes, and M&M like cheeks. Eevee was also a cream filled donut with chocolate eyes and ears. My favorite of the bunch was the Pikachu tail donut. The donut was cut in half like a sandwich and had a ring of cream and delicious custard. The Glaceon donut was also a sandwich with a large cream ring in the middle and a sweet powder blue topping. Also available were Pachirisu and Piplup variations, but they were not at the store we went to. The special Christmas donuts were the classic Pon de ring. They came in three varieties of chocolate, white chocolate, and pudding icing with sprinkles on top.

Even though it says “kid’s set” we were relieved to find that we could purchase them as well. The price was surprisingly affordable to. Its only ¥280 + the cost of any donut. We got a white chocolate old fashioned glazed donut for ¥151 including tax. The total cost was only ¥431 and included the donut, a small kids drink, the promotional glass, and an originally designed bag. Based on the pictures, we got both. : )

Final Thoughts

Overall, we were really happy with the quality of the Mister Donut & Pokémon Collaboration 2021 merchandise. The plate is ceramic, has a good weight to it, and is microwavable according to the back of the box. Likewise the coffee cup was ceramic and quite substantial. The blanket was super cute too with its Christmas theme.

We are also looking forward to getting the Mister Donut lucky bag this new year. The last couple of years have been Pokémon collaborations as well, so hopefully this year will be the same. We’ll be sure to post when we get it.
